Angels’ Richards exits start due to injury

Los Angeles Angels right-hander Garrett Richards was removed from his Tuesday start against the Seattle Mariners in the third inning due to an undisclosed injury.

Richards was activated from the disabled list July 4 after missing three weeks with a strained left hamstring.

In 2 2/3 innings Tuesday, Richards allowed three runs on four hits and a walk. He struck out.

Richards beat the Mariners on Independence Day in his return to action, allowing three runs (two earned) in 5 1/3 innings.

In 16 starts this year, Richards is 5-4 with a 3.66 ERA.
