Milwaukee Bucks center Pau Gasol had surgery on Thursday to repair a navicular stress fracture in his left foot and will not return for the playoffs.
Gasol had been expected to miss about a month when he was injured in March. He’s expected to make a full recovery before training camp next season.
Gasol joined Milwaukee late in the season after reaching a buyout with the San Antonio Spurs. He played in just three games for the Bucks, averaging 1.3 points and 3.3 rebounds.
In 30 overall games this season, Gasol averaged career lows of 3.9 points and 4.6 rebounds.
The 38-year-old Gasol is a six-time All-Star.
The top-seeded Bucks recently ousted the Boston Celtics 4-1 in the second round of the playoffs and await either the Toronto Raptors or Philadelphia 76ers in the Eastern Conference Finals.
